In January 2019, Atelier Athmer moved to the former Bijlmerbajes in Amsterdam. Selfies from the Bijlmerbajes was conceived and completed during the first six months there. It is a series of 81 self-portraits made according to a special process: each day, four tubes of paint were drawn by lot with which to make the portrait – live from the mirror – in one session. The series was first exhibited at Bijlmerbajes in October 2019.
